NE Bend traffic stop leads to drugs, guns, 3 arrests
Three men were arrested during a traffic stop Sunday night in northeast Bend that led to deployment of a drug-sniffing dog and the seizure of methamphetamine, heroin and two handguns, police said.
A Bend officer conducted the traffic stop of a blue 2009 Hyundai Accent around 9:37 p.m. in the area of Northeast Eighth Street and Greenwood Avenue for observed traffic violations, said Sgt. Mike Landolt., not specifying the details that led to the stop.
Drug-detection K-9 Skai was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics in the car, Landolt said.
Kenneth Sommerset, 28, of Redmond, was found to be in possession of meth and a firearm, Landolt said. Ronnie Magnus, 22, of Bend, had heroin, a gun and an arrest warrant for parole violation, while Eric Pancoast, 22, of Redmond, possessed meth, the sergeant added.
All three men were taken to the Deschutes County Jail, where Sommerset remained held Monday morning on $35,000 bail, facing charges of meth and heroin possession and felon in possession of a firearm. Magnus was held without bail on the parole violation, also charged with heroin possession and felon in possession of a firearm.
Pancoast, charged with meth possession, was released early Monday to a responsible third party, a jail officer said.
