KTVZ

On Sunday, December 20 , the La Pine Christmas Basket Association will again distribute food baskets to an estimated 550-600 families in Southern Deschutes County. This event will occur at the La Pine Events Center located at 16505 1 st Street, La Pine.

The distribution will begin at 10:00 AM and will conclude at 4:00 PM. Recipients of the food baskets had to pre-register to obtain this food prior to December 10 by applying by application at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office south substation, Rays Food Place of La Pine or Shop Smart of La Pine.

Santa Claus will be present at distribution and free photos with Santa will be made available to all families who participate in our program.

The food baskets contain a variety of food items to include a turkey, potatoes, canned fruit and vegetables, bread, milk, pies and assorted other foodstuffs.

This program has been active in this community for over 20 years. Last year, the program fed over 600 southern Deschutes County families.

The La Pine Christmas Basket Association wishes to thank all of its generous partners that include over 100 Central Oregon businesses and service providers along with hundreds of individual donors.

Without their generous support, the Association could not possibly continue this great community program. We also want to thank our 12 Association Board members and the approximately 100 volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

The La Pine Christmas Basket program is not affiliated with The La Pine Community Kitchen, the Oregon Department of Family Services, the Oregon Senior Services Department or any other social services agency. There is also no affiliation with Toys for Tots or SCOTR.

The La Pine Christmas Basket Association is a registered 501-C Charitable Organization. Anyone wishing to provide a donation can do so by writing to P.O. Box 638, La Pine, Or., 97739.
