Deschutes Co. SO Search and Rescue seeks volunteers
Search and Rescue is the responsibility of the Deschutes County Sheriff. Our mission is to provide professional, high-quality search and rescue assistance to the citizens of Deschutes County and its many visitors who may be lost or injured in the wilderness.
Approximately 120 volunteers make up the Deschutes County Search and Rescue organization. Our volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and respond to an average of 100 missions a year regardless of the weather to search for and rescue those that are lost or injured in the wilderness.
Search and Rescue teams include incident management, mountain rescue, swift-water rescue, dive, snowmobile, ATV, tracking, air operations, K-9, and medical.
If you enjoy the wilderness, are physically fit and are interested in finding a way to give back to the community, please consider joining us. Go to www.deschutes.org/jobs to apply, click on Volunteer Openings, then click on SAR Volunteers. Or call the SAR Headquarters at 541-388-6501. Applications are due by January 29, 2016.
