Financial technology company SmartAsset said Monday it has ranked America’s top 10 boomtown s of 2015, and the Bend metro area takes the fourth spot in its list.

“Everyone wants to live in Bend. Or at least, a lot of people do,” the Website says in a report out Monday.

“According to U.S. Census Bureau data, the city’s net migration rate is 2.2 percent, the highest in the country. In 2014 alone, 3,600 more people moved to the Bend area than left it,” the site said.

“There are plenty of potential reasons for that growth, among them the city’s strong economy and high quality of life,” it added.

But while, like many rankings, it talks of the city of Bend, the statistics are actually for the Bend-Redmond metro area — which includes all of Deschutes County.

Details on the study, including full methodology and rankings, can be found here:: https://smartasset.com/mortgage/top-10-boomtowns-of-2015

The Bend area didn’t even make the Top 10 Boomtowns list in 2014. A corresponding chart with this year’s findings shows an unemployment rate highest among the Top 10, at 5.7 percent in Bend, but a 5.9 percet growth in the city’s gross domestic product.
