Redmond named ‘Affordable Hidden Gem Getaway’
Bend gets plenty – some might say too much — attention on “best of” lists around the country. So now it’s Redmond’s turn, just recently named one of TripAdvisor’s 10 winter “Affordable Hidden Gem Getaways.”
Website spokeswoman Ashley Centrella said Monday that Redmond received a score of 4.17 out of 5, based on more than 500 reviews, “and is praised by travelers for its abundance of outdoor recreation.”
Others on the list include such little-known spots as Garden City Beach, south Carolina and Banner Elk, North Carolina, as well as Chelan, Washington.
As for Redmond, it lists an average weekly two-bedroom rental rate of $892, average winter temperatures of 42-50 degrees and shows a photo of nearby Smith Rock State Park, touting that “recreation abounds in Redmond, from mountain biking, fishing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, skiing and golf.”
As for the winter, it notes nearby Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo.
