Challenge: Finding the right college

KTVZ

Each year, the everyday stress of high school for juniors and senior, is bogged down with applying for the right college.

Lillie Spackman, a senior at Bend High said Tuesday, “I will tell you right now, senior-itis is a real thing. And this week is finals week for us, so there’s a lot of studying.”

Spackman also said many colleges are looking for extracurricular activities along with good grades, and starting at an early age could give students the edge they need to impress the college of their dreams.

“Just try anything and everything that you might be interested in,” Spackman said.

With the demand for more extracurricular activities from colleges also comes the demand for an overall more well-rounded student.

Spackman said, “A lot of parents as their kids are going into high school they think a lot about SAT scores and ACT scores which are really important. But a lot of what I’m hearing from other kids who have graduated and from college reps is that those scores are important, but it’s also really important to be a well rounded individual.”
