Two arrested after SW Redmond assault with knife
A Redmond woman accused of assaulting another woman with a knife during an argument was arrested Friday, along with another man wanted on an unrelated warrant for parole violation, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. Thursday to a reported assault with a knife in the area of Southwest 35 th Street and Indian Place, said police Lt. Mike Kidwell.
An investigation found that Laura Lynne Harlan, 35, a resident on Indian Place, had assaulted another woman in a dispute “over some property,” Kidwell wrote. “During the struggle, a knife was displayed and used against the victim,” causing a minor cut.
The victim sought medical attention on her own, and police were unable to contact Harlan during the initial investigation.
Around noon on Friday, police executed a search warrant at Harlan’s residence in the 300 block of Indian Place, Kidwell said. She was taken into custody without incident, and Joshua Cheney, 25, a Redmond-area transient, was arrested on an unrelated warrant for absconding.
Harlan was held at the Deschutes County Jail on $85,000 bail on charges including second-degree assault, second-degree theft, coercion menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. Cheney was held without bail on the parole violation charge.
