KTVZ

Do you know a business that goes above and beyond to keep their sidewalks safe? Nominate them for a Deschutes County Safe Sidewalk award.

The Deschutes County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will recognize winners this spring during a Board of County Commissioners meeting. Winners will receive a certificate from the County and acknowledgment from their Chamber of Commerce.

The deadline for nominations is March 25 by 5 p.m. Nomination forms can be found at: http://www.deschutes.org/cd/page/bpac-awards-and-recognition

BPAC would like to remind business and property owners of their responsibility to maintain clear sidewalks. Along with snow and ice, there are many other sidewalk hazards, such as overgrown landscaping and sprinkler overspray that need attention from property owners throughout the year. All of these conditions can create challenging and dangerous conditions for pedestrians.

BPAC thanks local businesses keep their pathways clear.

Last year, the following businesses were recognized:

In Bend – Cascade Business News, Cascade Disposal, City of Bend-Facilities & Accessibility, Deschutes Public Library, Old Mill District, and Premier Woodworks; In Sisters – Pony Express and Cowgirls and Indians; In Sunriver – Sunriver Owners Association.

About the BPAC: The BPAC is an advisory committee of the Deschutes County Commission and seeks to improve conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians
