‘Great Bike Giveaway’ to help Redmond boy, others
The Great Bike Giveaway helps hundreds of disabled children every year by giving them special bikes they can ride. The Fayal family has been involved with the giveaway to ensure their son and other children around Central Oregon have the opportunity to ride bikes with their friends and family.
Brandon Fayal started having seizures when he was 2 years old, which caused permanent brain damage. Brandon’s lack of balance and speech impairment made it hard for him to perform everyday activities.
“Brandon is very off-balance, and so a normal bike he will never be able to ride. But he has come a long way in just the short time that we have been here in Central Oregon,” said Brandon’s mom Sonya Fayal, who’s also an ambassador for the Great Bike Giveaway.
“Oh, it’s great, because it isn’t a bike that you can just go buy at Walmart, these are very expensive bikes that are built for these children and for their disabilities,” Fayal said Friday. “So to be able and go ride his bike with his brother is just going to be amazing,”
These bikes have made it easier for children like Brandon to go out and play with their friends and family. Sonya thanks the Great Bike Giveaway for giving Brandon the ability to ride bikes with his little brother Ryan.
“Being able to do this is just a godsend, and I’m truly grateful and blessed to be part of this organization, so thank you.”
Here’s a news release from the program:
Westbloomfield, MI:Just about every child you’ll ever meet would like to have his or her own bicycle to ride around their neighborhood. For many children with special needs and their parents it’s not always so simple.
Friendship Circle of Michigan, while based in Michigan, is mirrored in 80 locations throughout the United States, isnow launching their 5th annual Great Bike Giveaway, whereby they have set the bar high.
This is a National BicycleGiveaway and their goal is to give away 600 adaptive bicycles to boys and girls with special needs and they need your help.
Bassie Shemtov, Director of Friendship Circle says : “Our children are our greatest and most precious and valuable commodity. We are kindly asking you to show your generosity by supporting the children and putting smiles on the faces of boys and girls throughout the United States.”
Friendship Circleof Michigan has partnered with nine adaptive bicycle companies around the country in hopes that 600 children will have the chance to win an adaptive bicycle but they need your help.
Adaptive bicycles are extremely costly and while more than 74 million kids across the U.S. ride bikes as an everydaypart of childhood, sadly this is not the case for children with special needs. They miss out on this childhood experience because their physical or cognitive limitations make riding a traditional bike impossible.
Many parents of children with special needs simply cannot afford an adaptive bicycle and Friendship Circle of Michigan wants to make this dream a reality for their children.
Friendship Circleof Michigan’s Great Bike Giveaway aims to make these dreams a reality by giving away hundreds of specially made, adaptive bicycles for children across the country with special needs. These bikes are tailored to meet each child’s unique ability so that they don’t miss out on this part of their childhood.
Children in your cityhave registered for The Great Bike Giveaway and are hoping to win one of the special adaptive bikes. However they need your help. Donations are being accepted through March 30th at 12pm. Simply go to:friendshipcircle.org/bikes, select which child they would like to support and donate now!
