Bend’s busy road work season getting underway

KTVZ

With a busy season of road projects getting started, the city of Bend will be releasing a weekly road and traffic report each Friday to help travelers plan their best routes and make it to their destinations on time.

This is intended to provide information about various projects that are happening within the city on public rights-of-way that impact traffic.

The city’s Private Development Engineering Department coordinates lane and road closures in the rights-of-way from public and private projects.

“It will be a busy summer,” the city said Friday as it released the first weekly update.

The city is planning street preservation projects that will upgrade streets and intersections, and sewer line construction that will disrupt traffic as well.

Sometimes, private development projects also require a lane closure. Cascade Natural Gas is upgrading its lines and will be in the rights of way at times. Occasionally, special events will occur that also require temporary road closures.

The road reports will be released to the media on Friday afternoons, will be posted on the front of the City’s web page, www.bendoregon.gov, and can be delivered to your inbox if you subscribe to enews through www.bendoregon.gov/enews (sign up for General News).
