Bend High School senior attends her prom

KTVZ

A Bend High School senior had a prom to remember Saturday night.

Samantha Jackson,18, has an intellectual disability, but that is not stopping her from feeling like a warrior princess.

“She mentioned she had never (gone) to been to a high school dance, so I told her, ‘Prom is just right around the corner,'” Jeannie Fraley said Saturday.

So Jackson said yes to prom.

Several school staff members donated a dress, jewelry and makeup to her.

Fraley and Cheryl Shaw helped Jackson get ready by doing her hair and makeup for the special night.

Jackson asked her friend, sophomore Chad Margraf, to prom. The two became friends when they competed in the Special Olympics.

For Jackson, it was the time of her life, going to her first-ever school dance. For the high school staff, it’s about their students feeling like royalty for a night.
