A 19-year-old Bend resident was jailed on DUII, assault and other charges after a crash early Saturday on a Forest Service road near Tumalo Falls that sent four passengers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies and Bend Fire Department medics responded around 4 a.m. to the report of an injury crash on Forest Service Road 4601, off Skyliners Road near Tumalo Falls west of Bend, said Lt. Tim Leak.

An investigation determined that driver Jordan Jeffrey Neelon, 19, of Bend, was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee down the road from the Tumalo Falls area toward Bend “at a high rate of speed” when he “lost control of his vehicle on the gravel road and struck a tree near the roadway,” Leak said in a news release.

Four passengers were taken to St. Charles Bend with non-life-threatening injuries, Leak said, adding that “alcohol and speed were contributing factors” in the crash.

At the conclusion of the crash investigation, Neelon was arrested on charges of DUII and four counts each of reckless endangering and third-degree assault. He was lodged at the county jail on bail of $85,000, online records showed.
