La Pine man arrested; raid on home finds stolen motorcycle
A raid early Saturday on a La Pine home led to the arrest of the 33-year-old resident and recovery of a motorcycle reported stolen a few days earlier, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies were dispatched Thursday on a report a motorcycle had been taken from a carport in the area of Jackpine and Ash roads in La Pine, said Sgt. William Bailey. It was reported the motorcycle had been taken within the previous 72 hours.
With help from the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team, detectives with the sheriff’s office Street Crimes Unit developed information that Christopher John Campbell had the stolen motorcycle at a home in the 52000 block of Lucky Lane in La Pine, Bailey said.
After detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant, deputies and detectives conducted the raid around 1:30 a.m. Saturday and found the stolen motorcycle in the home, Bailey said.
Campbell was taken into custody and brought to the county jail in Bend, where he was lodged on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and methamphetamine possession. He was being held without bail on a parole violation, jail records showed.
Bailey said the investigation was continuing.
