A 24-year-old La Pine woman escaped with only minor injuries Monday morning when her SUV left Highway 58, rolled several times and caught fire, Oregon State Police reported.

Troopers and other emergency personnel responded around 6:45 a.m. to the reported single-vehicle crash on Highway 58 near milepost 19, east of Lowell, said OSP Capt. Bill Fugate.

A preliminary investigation found that Jesse L. Shader was at the wheel of a 1995 GMC SUV heading east when it left the highway and rolled several times.

The SUV caught fire, Fugate said, but Shader was able to get out before it became fully engulfed.

Shader was taken to McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center in Springfield for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash, Fugate said, adding that more information will be released when available as the investigation continues.

OSP was assisted on the crash scene by Oakridge Fire and Rescue, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Union Pacific Railroad, he said.
