Redmond School Board member Lasoya resigning
Redmond School Board member A.J. Losoya has submitted his resignation effective July 31, or until a replacement appointment has been chosen by the board.
Losoya cited recent changes in his professional career as the impetus of his decision to resign from the board. Losoya was appointed to the board of directors in December of 2010. His term was scheduled to end June 30, 2017.
In his tenure on the board, Losoya has served in a number of leadership roles including board chair for two terms and vice chair for two terms. Additionally, he has served on the district’s budget committee and finance committee. Losoya is hopeful that his schedule will allow him to continue serving on the finance committee.
The board accepted Losoya’s resignation during their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, June 8. The board will follow district protocol to fill the vacancy and will release details on applications on the district website.
“I have greatly enjoyed my experiences from serving on the school board,” shared Losoya. “I am thankful and appreciative of the collaboration and relationships I have established during my term. I am honored to have had the opportunity to be in a position to improve the school district and its functions for our team members and children that we serve.”
The Redmond School District Board of Directors consists of five members elected to serve overlapping four-year terms as non-salaried trustees of the school district. As elected officials, the board is responsible for the scope, depth and quality of education and is the official policy-making body of the school district.
