Veterans Stand Down, Community Resource Fair set
Central Oregon Veterans Outreach, Inc. is hosting the 2016 Veterans Stand Down and Community Resource Fair for Central Oregon onFriday, June 24. This event is open to everyone in our community that is homeless and/or low income, and is a one-stop area to connect with valuable resources from within our area.
The Veteran Stand Down has traditionally been a place where our Veterans who are in need can connect with service providers and resources in relation to medical, employment, and self-sufficiency. In keeping with this tradition,
Veterans will have special access to resources specifically arranged for those who have served on our military. These resources will include Veteran Service Officers from Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties; Vet-Center Representatives; Veterans of Foreign Wars Organizations; housing support; and more!
Concurrently, the event is open to our homeless and low-income community at large with resources that are available to anyone who meets the needs requirement. This will provide many resources under one roof to help connect people with the resource providers they often have to seek out around the area.
These resources will include; employment counselors, medical care and coverage, self-sustainability counselors from Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), and many more. We are expecting nearly 35 service providers to be at the event, ready to help out!
This an incredible event that promises to have something for everyone.
The event location is at the Bend National Guard Armory, 875 SW Simpson Ave. Doors open at 9:00 and will be open through 3:00pm.
