Red Cross assists Warm Springs house fire victims

The American Red Cross Cascades Region said it sent disaster volunteers to assist four people displaced by a house fire early Saturday morning on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation,

The Red Cross said it was called out around 2 a.m. to the fire that occurred in the 2000 block of Oitz Loop. Further details about the fire were not immediately available.

Red Cross disaster volunteers assisted four adults displaced by the fire and provided resources to help address the immediate basic needs of those affected such as temporary housing, food, clothing, comfort kits, information about recovery services, and health and mental health services.

The Red Cross Cascades Region (Oregon and Southwest Washington) responds to an average of two home fires every day.

“We provide hope and comfort to people affected, helping victims anywhere and any time,” the agency said. “The Red Cross advocates emergency preparedness and offers the installation of free smoke alarms in our community.
