A look at high-profile killings by US police
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minnesota police Officer Kim Potter has been sentenced to two years in prison for manslaughter in the 2021 shooting death of Daunte Wright. The judge citied mitigating factors in handing down a lower sentence than called for under state guidelines. Prosecutors had requested a seven-year sentence while her attorney asked for probation. Potter, 49, was convicted in December of first- and second-degree manslaughter in the killing of the 20-year-old Black man.
