High Desert Museum adds access program for low-income families

KTVZ

The High Desert Museum announced Tuesday it has joined Museums for All, a signature access program of the Association of Children’s Museums and the Institute of Museum and Library Services to encourage families of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits.

The program will enable low-income families to visit the High Desert Museum at a reduced admission rate of $2.00 per person with the presentation of an Electronic Benefits Transfer card beginning Saturday. The reduced rate will be offered for up to six individuals (up to two adults and four children) per EBT card and is valid during normal business hours only.

We are excited to join the Museums for All initiative as it represents a great stride toward the goal of reaching more children and parents, especially those in low-income brackets, with the valuable learning resources of the Museum,” said Director of Programs Christina Cid, Ph.D.

Each year, children’s museums host more than 31 million visitors. The Museums for All initiative allows for museums to further expand their reach and impact.
