No arrests in Portland post-election protest
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland police say a protest that erupted after Donald Trump’s election victory did not lead to any arrests.
Protesters took over a section of Interstate 5 late Tuesday and early Wednesday, affecting traffic in both directions for about an hour.
Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers have not received any significant reports of vandalism. A fire in a downtown Portland trash bin did not spread.
Simpson says the department realizes emotions are high after the election. He hopes anyone planning a large demonstration alerts the agency so officers can manage traffic.
