Saving Grace launches annual holiday ‘Adopt a Family’ program

KTVZ

Help make the holidays brighter for survivors and their children by adopting a Saving Grace family.

The Adopt a Family program is a long-standing holiday tradition that gives community members and businesses an opportunity to make the holidays a little brighter for families dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault.

To help bring this holiday cheer, we enlist the help of advocates who generate ” wish lists ” representing the needs and wishes of real families, made anonymous for safety reasons.

Many Saving Grace clients flee violence and abuse with little more than the clothing on their backs, and continue to struggle to make ends meet, often working multiple jobs while dealing with unreliable transportation.

During the two-week holiday break, being responsible for the lunches and breakfasts that are normally provided at school will be an additional strain on already-tight food budgets. Holiday activities that many of us take for granted like going out to eat or to a movie are out of the question.

The Adopt a Family program helps survivors and their children have a happier holiday while also providing essential items. To learn more about how you can adopt a family in need, visit their website at www.saving-grace.org , call 541-382-9227 , or email erin@saving-grace.org .

Saving Grace provides prevention, crisis, and ongoing support services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Central Oregon and promotes the value of a life without violence.
