Russia-Ukraine war: Key things to know about the conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised his country’s troops at a huge rally at a Moscow stadium as Russian forces continue to press their attacks on Ukrainian cities with shelling and missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy again appealed to Putin to hold talks with him directly. Zelenskyy says that more than 9,000 people were able to leave besieged Mariupol in the past day and Ukrainian officials say the port city, has lost its access to the Azov Sea. The U.N. migration agency says the fighting has displaced nearly 6.5 million people inside Ukraine.
