GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) — Police in suburban Indianapolis say officers fatally shot a 49-year-old motorist after she rammed multiple squad cars and nearly struck officers following a high-speed chase. Monica Vaught of Greenwood was pronounced dead at the scene late Tuesday after four officers fired at her vehicle in a Greenwood Police Department parking lot. Greenwood Police Chief James Ison says officers responding to a 911 caller of an intoxicated driver chased Vaught through downtown Greenwood. Ison says Vaught drove into the parking lot where officers tried to “deescalate the situation.” He says four officers fired on her car after she twice accelerated toward them.
