Crook County motorhome fire displaces mom, daughter
A fire destroyed a motorhome south of Prineville on Saturday afternoon, displacing a mother and her adult daughter who lived there, officials said.
Crook County Fire and Rescue responded to the location on Southeast Cahvilla Road for a reported RV on fire with explosions, said Fire Chief Matt Smith.
Crews arrived to find the motorhome consumed and several propane tanks exposed to the flames, he said.
Nine firefighters with two engines, an ambulance and a water tender were called out and crews quickly brought the fire under control.
Smith said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Disaster responders with the local American Red Cross responded to the scene in the 160000 block of Chavilla Road to help the family. They provided resources to help address the immediate basic needs of those affected, such as temporary housing, food, clothing, comfort kits with toiletry items, information about recovery services and health and mental health services.
