Navy plane crash off Eastern Shore; 2 hospitalized, 1 dead

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — Authorities say two crewmembers rescued from the midweek crash of a U.S. Navy aircraft in Eastern Shore waters near the Virginia-Maryland line remain hospitalized. Officials said Thursday that both crewmembers have non-life-threatening injuries after the crash Wednedsday evening of Navy E2-D Advanced Hawkeye, which killed the third crewmember. A Navy public affairs officer said the aircraft was conducting routine flight operations near Wallops Island, Virginia, when it went down about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officials declined to immediately release the injured crewmembers’ names and said the name of the deceased crewmember won’t be released until next of kin are notified.
