Attic fire destroys NE Prineville home
A fire that apparently began in the attic destroyed a northeast Prineville home Saturday afternoon, displacing a family of five who escaped unhurt, officials said.
Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched at 2:17 p.m. to the working structure fire, said Fire Chief Matt Smith. Crews arrived to find a fire in the attic of the two-story home.
It took 15 firefighters with three engines and an ambulance on scene three hours to bring the fire under control, Smith said.
The American Red Cross responded to the scene to help the family with its immediate needs, the fire chief said.
No injuries were reported, but the fire left the home a complete loss, Smith said, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Prineville police assisted fire crews at the scene.
A GoFundMe page set up to help the family said they “lost everything they own” but that “fortunately everyone made it out,” including two young children, ages 5 and 6.
