Sewer work due to begin near St. Charles Bend
As part of the ongoing construction of the 27th Street sewer line, night work is scheduled to begin February 12 at the intersection of Medical Center Drive and Neff Road. This will affect the primary access to St. Charles Bend and other medical facilities for three or four weeks.
Please watch for blue alternative access signs to the hospital, officials said.
Upon completion of the work at the Neff Road-Medical Center Drive intersection, construction hours will transition to daytime and will continue eastward towards 27th Street. This will require full time closure of the westbound travel lane on Neff Road. This is anticipated to last about three months.
The project is part of the multi-phased Southeast Interceptor, an underground 30-inch gravity sewer line that will convey wastewater to the Water Reclamation Facility. The pipeline relieves capacity issues in southwest, southeast, northeast, and central areas in Bend.
By building a gravity pipeline, the city can decommission up to 24 sewer pump stations, which saves energy and provides long term reliability in this essential service. The City of Bend protects drinking water sources, public health and the environment by conveying and treating wastewater from throughout the city.
The Southeast Interceptor sewer line is expected to be in service in early 2018, with completion of roadway paving in July 2018
