Prineville man injured in Juniper Canyon rollover crash

KTVZ

A 26-year-old Prineville man left unconscious in a rollover crash on Southeast Juniper Canyon Road Monday evening was flown by air ambulance to St. Charles Bend, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies responded around 5:35 p.m. to the reported single-vehicle crash about 7 ½ miles southeast of Prineville, said sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Bottoms.

They arrived to find a black Ford Expedition upside-down off the east side of the road, Bottoms said.

Evidence at the scene indicated the driver, identified as Jeffrey Charles Shannon, had lost control of the SUV while negotiating a corner, the sergeant added.

Shannon was unconscious at the scene and was flown to the Bend hospital, where a house supervisor had no information later Monday night.

Bottoms said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, and the investigation is continuing.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Crook County Fire and Rescue.
