Temporary changes in HighDesert POINT bus service

KTVZ

Due to a temporary cancellation of the Amtrak Coast Starlight, the HighDesert POINT Bus routes 6111 and 6211 have been canceled until further notice. However, service has been extended to include a connection to the SouthWest route which stops in Klamath Falls, to better serve travel needs. On Friday, April 28 , a crash in Redding, Calif., resulted in Amtrak temporarily canceling its Coast Starlight service between Klamath Falls and Eugene. The HighDesert POINT route is geared to train passengers and acts as a shuttle to and from the train station at Chemult. “In response to the train cancelation, we’re extending our service to Klamath Falls and no longer tying our schedule to the train schedule,” said Joel Manning, Travel Information coordinator. “This new arrangement will allow us to connect to our SouthWest POINT route in Klamath Falls. We’ll also have more reliable service to other bus services in Bend.” The POINT website and Amtrak website have been updated with the new schedules. The change is expected to last until at least mid-May. The five POINT routes are: Cascades POINT – Portland to Eugene Eastern POINT – Bend to Ontario HighDesert POINT – Redmond to Chemult Amtrak Station NorthWest POINT – Portland to Cannon Beach and Astoria SouthWest POINT – Klamath Falls to Medford, Grants Pass, and Brookings Find schedules, fares and ticket information at the official website: http://oregon-point.com .
