Bend man killed in Hwy. 27 rollover crash

KTVZ

A 51-year-old Bend man was killed Friday night in a rollover crash of his pickup truck on state Highway 27 in Crook County, Oregon State Police reported.

Troopers responded around 9 p.m. to the reported single-vehicle crash near milepost 26 and once on scene determined it was a fatality, said OSP Sgt. Jeff Proulx.

A preliminary investigation determined that Mark Alan Hiatt was driving a 1994 GMC Sierra pickup heading south on the highway when it left the roadway for an unknown reason, Proulx said.

Hiatt drove onto the shoulder, where the pickup crashed into a dirt bank and overturned, he said.

“Alcohol is being considered as a factor” in the crash, the sergeant added.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
