BEIJING (AP) — Chinese state media say at least 17 people have been killed and four are missing in flooding and a landslide following days of torrential rain. The Xinhua News Agency says storms have pummeled Hunan province since the beginning of the month, killing 10 and leaving three missing. Some monitoring stations reporting rainfall at historic levels. Around 1.8 million people have been affected in the largely rural, mountainous province. About 286,000 of them have been evacuated to safety. More than 2,700 houses have been damaged or collapsed entirely. In the southern region of Guangxi, seven people were killed and one is missing after several villages were buried in mud and rock.
