Gov. Brown urges Congress to continue children’s health care funding

KTVZ

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Tuesday called on Congress to reauthorize funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which ensures access to care to thousands of Oregon children.

“If Congress doesn’t step up and act now, the families of 80,000 Oregon children will have to worry about being able to go to the doctor or fill a prescription.” Brown said. “This looming threat is unacceptable.

“I will continue working with Oregon’s congressional delegation to make certain the continued funding for the CHIP program does not become an unnecessary casualty of a reckless Congress, which has turned its focused on tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans rather than investing in the health of our children.”

Brown’s letter to Oregon’s Congressional delegation is available here.
