Local Alert Weather 120917 PM

KTVZ

Hello Central Oregon!

We continue to see this large high pressure system dominate the Pacific North West. Because of this system we’re also seeing patchy fog in parts of Central Oregon. Therefore, we’re under an Air Stagnation Advisory and a Freezing Fog Advisory. The high pressure system is causes limited air flow and calm winds, which means pollution could build up in our air and this could affect quality. During the night be aware of possible icy spots when driving, especially when going over bridges.

Tonight we could see patchy freezing fog and possible freezing drizzle. We’ll have clear skies, but it won’t appear that way for some in the foggy areas. Temperatures will drop to the single digits to low 20’s. The areas with fog will see chilly temperatures tonight and won’t warm up much tomorrow. Those who aren’t seeing the fog such as the mountains and those in the higher elevations will see cold temperatures tonight, but they’ll actually be warmer than everyone else tomorrow, which is very unusual.

Tomorrow’s daytime high’s will vary from the mid 20’s to upper 40’s. Again, we’ll have clear skies, but due to patchy fog in won’t appear that way in certain areas

The fog will stick around for most of the week, which means temperatures are going to stay cold for most. Temperatures will slightly fluctuate between the mid to upper 20’s.

It won’t be until the weekend we see a warm front move in and the high pressure system break down. Therefore, the fog will leave by Friday and temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 40’s for daytime highs. This front will bring with it a slight chance of rain showers for next weekend.
