Jeffries named Ochoco National Forest supervisor
Pacific Northwest Regional Forester Jim Peña announced Monday the selection of Shane Jeffries as the new Ochoco National Forest supervisor.
Jeffries brings a wealth of experience to the Ochoco National Forest and the Crooked River National Grassland. He has served as deputy forest supervisor on the Deschutes National Forest since 2012. Other leadership positions Jeffries has held include district ranger on the Deschutes and Payette national forests from 2005 through 2012.
Prior experience included service as wildlife biologist at the district and forest level in Regions 4, 5 and 6. He has served as acting forest supervisor on the Ochoco National Forest in 2013 and on Idaho Panhandle National Forest in 2016.
He served as special assistant to the regional forester in Region 5 to initiate the creation of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument on the Angeles National Forest in 2015, and the staff assistant to the Deputy Chief of National Forest Systems in the Washington, D.C. office in 2014.
Jeffries is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Resources. He is married with four adult children.

He started his new position in Prineville on Monday.
“It is truly an honor and a privilege to work for the Ochoco National Forest and the Crooked River National Grassland,” Jeffries said. “My wife and I look forward to moving to Prineville, getting to know the local communities, and continuing the stewardship of these shared public lands.”
The Pacific Northwest Region consists of 16 National Forests, 59 District Offices, a National Scenic Area, and a National Grassland comprising 24.7 million acres in Oregon and Washington and employing approximately 3,550 people.
