Deschutes County clerk holds kids’ election art contest
Deschutes County Clerk Nancy Blankenship invites students in grades 5-8 to participate in the Clerk’s Office biennial election art contest. Winners will have their artwork featured in the 2018 Voters’ Pamphlets, which are distributed to more than 65,000 households in Deschutes County. This year’s theme, ‘Voting Shapes the Future,’ is intended to get students thinking about how the simple act of voting will shape the future world they live in.
Deadline: All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 2.
Eligibility: Open to students in grades 5-8 who live in Deschutes County.
Requirements: All entries must meet the following criteria:
Reflect the theme ‘Voting Shapes the Future.’ Be original in concept, design, and execution. Include a release form signed by the student and a parent/guardian.
Submission Instructions:
Submissions must be in one of the following file formats: JPEG, TIF, PNG, SVG, PDF
NOTE: Finalists may be asked to submit the artwork in its original file format

Judging:
A judging panel from the League of Women Voters will select the contest winners. Winners will be notified before they are publicly announced.
Winners from the fifth/sixth-grade division will be featured on the cover of the Deschutes County Voters’ Pamphlet for the 2018 Primary Election. Winners from the seventh/eighth-grade division will be featured on the cover of the Deschutes County Voters’ Pamphlet for the 2018 General Election.
All artwork submitted may be used by Deschutes County for educational and outreach purposes.
