Relocated Prineville men’s homeless shelter opens

Ten homeless men slept in warm beds Thursday night as Regeneration House opened their doors after relocating last year.

The new shelter is located on Northwest Madras Highway, with much-needed space to house men who are homeless.

Last year, the shelter had to find a new location because it sat on the site of the new Crook County jail.

The new shelter site has three showers, more than 10 beds and lockers where their clients can put their belongings.

“They’re very grateful,” Executive Director Greg Sanders said Friday. “They’re really excited about this new location — more space, a little easier to accommodate. In the temporary shelter we were using, we didn’t actually have beds in place, so we have beds now for them to sleep in. This is kind of a step up, so the gratitude is definitely there,”

The shelter can fill 16 beds and can’t exceed capacity.

Sanders told NewsChannel 21 the homeless shelter is always looking for volunteers and for donations, whether that be cash, food or personal hygiene supplies.
