Redmond firefighters to burn airport training building

A vacant building previously used for training will be burned Saturday morning at the Redmond Airport, fire officials advised residents.

Redmond Fire & Rescue said it will be burning a building at their training facility formerly used by the city’s Public Works Division, said Training Chief Jake Campbell.

No training operations will occur during the burn, at 875 SE Veterans Way. Ignition is expeced around 9 a.m. and crews will be on hand to prevent any spread, Campbell said.

While the process is due to be completed by noon, the building area could smolder for several hours or days.

The burn is contingent on unexpected weather changes. Reader boards will be in place on Vetearns Way to advase passing motorists. Drivers are encouraged to use caution on Veterans Way between Highway 126 East and SE Airport Way.
