BLM: Public lands open, facilities closed due to shutdown

KTVZ

The federal Bureau of Land Management on Sunday outlined its situation on the second day of the federal government shutdown, saying that while most public lands remain accessible, facilities on those lands are closed.

“During the lapse of appropriations and the subsequent shutdown of the federal government, the majority of Bureau of Land Management public lands across the country will remain as accessible as possible while still following all applicable laws and procedures,” the brief announcement said.

“BLM roads, trails, campgrounds, boat ramps and recreation sites will remain accessible to visitors, but emergency and rescue services will be limited,” the agency said. “All BLM facilities on public lands however will be closed.”

“Please note that because of the federal government shutdown, the BLM websites and social media are not being monitored or updated and may not reflect current conditions,” the agency added.
