Local Alert Weather – Fri. AM

KTVZ

Happy Friday morning, everyone!

We have some icy and slick spots on the roads this morning as we saw some snow showers overnight. Allow yourself some extra time to get around. We’re not expecting much in terms of snowfall during the day today, but that will all change tonight. Central Oregon could see a few snow showers, but mainly in higher elevations. Daytime highs will top out in the 30s and lower 40s. Partly cloudy skies will be overhead with winds out of the southwest around 20 miles per hour.

A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect this evening. The next storm moves in by around 9 p.m. and will linger through the day tomorrow. Precipitation will start as snow, but change over to rain by the morning. Know roads will be slippery and messy tonight as snow comes down and temperatures warm. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Winds will be breezy out of the southwest around 15 to 20 miles per hour.

Chains and/or Traction Tires are required across the passes. Highways 58, 20, and 26 are all looking at hard packed snow as of Friday morning.

Snow levels will end the day at 2,600′ then rising to 6,000′ by Saturday morning. We’ll wake up to rain showers on Saturday for most of the area. The Cascades during this time will be hammered with snow and it will be wet. Mt. Bachelor is looking at around 8-12″ of snow by the end of the day Saturday.

Sunday sees a clearing with partly cloudy skies expected. Temperatures will be about 10 degrees above average in the low to mid 50s.

Have a happy & safe weekend!
