Local Alert Weather, Fri. AM, 2.16.18

KTVZ

Good Friday Morning, Everyone…

Storm activity pressing in from the NW will keep Central Oregon skies pretty cloudy today. This will bring heavy rain to the valley and much needed snow to the Cascades. Areas north of Bend have a chance of mixed showers this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 40’s, fairly average for this time of year. One distinct sign of storms advancing on will be the higher winds this afternoon. They will come out of the south at 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Harsh winds will back off tonight; remaining southerly, but down to 5-10 mph. Overnight lows will stay fairly mild, in the low to mid 30’s, under mostly cloudy skies.

This developing system will deliver rain showers Saturday, along with more strong winds. A High Wind Advisory has been set for Central Oregon from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Rain showers will turn to snow showers as lows drop into the 20’s. Some of that snow will stretch into Sunday morning. The passage of the cold front associated with this weekend storm will mean a weakening of our storms as we go into Monday. It will also mean the settling of much colder air. Daytime highs from Sunday through the middle of next week will range from the upper 20’s to mid 30’s. Lows will be dropping into the teens and single digits.

HAVE A SPARKLING DAY IN CENTRAL OREGON!
