The City of Madras is pleased to announce that Marco Urieta-Leon, Assoc. AIA, has been appointed to the Madras Planning Commission.

Marco is a Madras High School graduate who holds a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Idaho. Urieta-Leon is a Designer with Ascent Architecture & Interiors in Bend. His experience includes commercial, multifamily residential, and senior living projects.

Marco is currently working on a local project, the Madras Vision Source, located downtown on Fifth Street.

“It’s nice to have a Madras High School graduate come back and work professionally in their hometown community and serve on our commission,” stated Nick Snead, Madras Community Development Director.

The Madras Planning Commission proactively engages members of the community in land use decisions by posting public meetings, notifying adjacent land owners of land use actions, holding meetings in different locations in the community and by actively informing citizens of planning issues and how they can participate.

When they make decisions, they consider precedent, the mix and balance of public and private interests, models, reports, and data and other planning and development related information.
