Portland jury awards $1.78 million to man hurt by SUV
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland jury has awarded $1.78 million to a man who was injured after an SUV rolled over him in his driveway.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports 63-year-old Wally Konsa was unable to return to work after a car belonging to a nurse struck him in 2014.
According to Konsa’s attorneys, the nurse was at Konsa’s rural Estacada home to check on his father-in-law. The nurse failed to put the car in park, and it rolled backward.
Attorneys say the nurse instructed Konsa to get in and stop the vehicle. He was knocked down by the car.
The nurse worked for Connected Home Health, which was the sole defendant of the suit.
The company’s attorney Jeffrey V. Hill says they were surprised by the jury’s decision, but they respect the court.
