Frontier 911 phone outage over; service restored
(Update: Phone service restored)
Frontier Regional 911 reported a phone service outage Tuesday morning that lasted into the afternoon, but 911 calls were being rerouted to another facility until repairs were made.
The organization said service was restored by around 3 p.m. The outage had affected both 911 and office lines, but it was able to receive text to 911 for emergency situations.
“Be assured that we have routed the 911 service to another center and that your 911 call will be answered,” the 8:30 a.m. update said, about an hour after the original notice. “Please have available your exact location, so it will enable the ability to get you help expeditiously.”
Jefferson County residents were advised to “please use your local numbers for non-emergent calls needing immediate attention.”
In Gilliam, Wheeler and Sherman counties, residents were able to call the dispatch cell phone at 541-965-3777. “Please make sure that the call is something that will need immediate attention, because this cell is also how we are taking information for our rerouted 911 incidents,” the notice said.
Frontier thanked residents for their patience in announcing the regular service was restored.
