Here is the city of Bend’s weekly road and traffic report for April 22-29:
Special Events:
· JDRF One Walk, April 21 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., start and finish at Drake Park. Be aware of participants crossing streets at the following intersections:
o Intersection of Galveston Avenue and Columbia Street
o Intersection of Galveston Avenue and Riverfront Street
· Earth Day Parade, April 21 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., closed streets include Bond Street, Minnesota Avenue, Wall Street, Louisiana Avenue, and Kansas Avenue.
o Kansas Avenue will be closed between Bond Street and Lava Road for a street fair, 4/21/18, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
· Bend Marathon, April 22 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., start and finish in Brooks Alley. Wall Street and related cross streets in Old Downtown Bend will have significant lane closures during event. Be aware of traffic control measures at the following intersections:
o Full & Half Marathon Courses
§ Wall Street and Franklin Avenue
§ Broadway Street and Carlon Avenue
§ Reed Market Road and Mt. Bachelor Drive roundabout
§ Skyline Ranch Road and Metolious Drive roundabout
§ Skyliners Road and Skyline Ranch Road
§ Mt. Washington Drive and Skyliners Road roundabout
§ 14 th Street and Jacksonville Avenue
§ Harmon Boulevard and Nashville Avenue
o 10K and 5K Courses
§ Galveston Avenue and Harmon Boulevard
For the week of:
April 23 – 29
· Parrell Road between Reed Lane and Sonata Way for City Street Preservation preparation, single lane closures with flagging, 4/23/18, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
· Intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Broadway Street for water main work, single lane closures with flagging, 4/26/18, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
· Roundabout at intersection of Reed Market Road and 15 th Street for Art in Public Places sculpture installation, roundabout closure with detours, 4/27/18, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please consider using alternative route and allow for additional travel time.
14 th Street Reconstruction Project:
The Simpson Avenue Roundabout at Century Drive is fully closed for work on the first stage of the project, which includes reconstruction of the Simpson Roundabout to a concrete surface and construction of the east side of Century Drive from Simpson Avenue to Albany Avenue. The roundabout is expected to reopen mid-May. Access to businesses in this area will remain open throughout construction. Google Maps and Waze will be updated with current closures due to this project. For project and detour info: www.bendoregon.gov/14thstreet
2018 City of Bend Street Preservation Projects ( www.bendoregon.gov/streetpreservation for more info about 2018 Street Preservation and Maintenance) :
· Intersection of Brooks Street and Oregon Avenue for removal of brick pavers and paving, road closure with detour, 4/26/18, night work from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Ongoing Closures:
· 14 th Street between Galveston Avenue and Newport Avenue for Cascade Natural Gas main relocation, southbound lane closed with detours in place, 3/26/18 – 6/8/18.
· Brosterhous Road between Marble Mountain Lane and Orchard Grass Place, bike lane closed for road construction and curb installation, 4/2/18 – 4/30/18.
Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors.
