Bend Parks and Rec needs teens to help summer youth programs

KTVZ

Bend Park & Recreation District has many opportunities for teens to volunteer with youth recreation, fitness, swimming and art programs this summer.

Volunteers help from late June through the end of August with District opportunities including day camps, preschool, science, art, craft, theater, cooking, fitness and swimming programs for younger children.

“Teen volunteers provide valuable support with program activities while learning job skills, gaining experience working with younger children, and having fun,” said Kim Johnson, community engagement supervisor. “Teens need to enjoy working with youth, be willing to take initiative, make a commitment and be able to create a positive, encouraging environment for all participants.”

Age requirement, time commitment, training and schedule vary by program. Minimum age for teen volunteers is 12 years old.

Information about volunteering, the list of current opportunities and volunteer application form are available at www.bendparksandrec.org; click on the “volunteer” tab. A criminal history background check is processed for volunteers age 18 and over.

BPRD also has summer jobs available. Information and current opportunities are available at the employment tab on the website.
