Bend PD rescue 10 wayward ducklings on Mother’s Day
One mama duck was very glad Bend police were around and came to the rescue on Mother’s Day when her 10 ducklings fell through a storm drain’s grate on Sunday.
“Our team got a call today about a mama who was having a really bad day, after her babies fell down a storm drain,” the department noted in a Facebook posting of three images of the rescue and happy aftermath.
“Some quick thinking and excellent use of an improvised duckling scooping device (aka a shovel) had the family reunited and back on their way in no time,” the police agency said.
“Serving and protecting, whether two legs or four,” the post concluded, along with a final photo of mama and babies waddling on to wherever they were heading next.
