Oregon DMV phone lines to close early Friday

KTVZ

Oregon DMV’s customer call centers will close at 3 p.m. Friday, May 18, for an upgrade to a new telephone system over the weekend. The upgrade is part of a statewide rollout of a new phone platform for all state government agencies.

All Oregon DMV customer phone numbers throughout the state go to call centers, not the local field offices, which will remain open for their normal business hours. If you call DMV after 3 p.m. May 18, you should receive a recorded message about the early closure of the call centers.

DMV expects the call centers to reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, May 21, but it is possible there may be disruptions in phone service resulting in longer hold times. DMV is already experiencing high customer call and visit volumes as a result of Oregon’s economic and population growth.

Any time you need to visit a DMV office, first check www.OregonDMV.com to find office hours and locations, and to make sure you have everything you need before your visit. You also can do some DMV business from home at OregonDMV.com. You can renew your vehicle registration, file a change of address or file notice of the sale of your vehicle online without getting in line at an office.
