The Bend Park and Recreation District is planning the next 10 years of parks and trails in Bend, and is sharing a sneak peek at the draft plan before the ink dries.

This important project has been in process for nearly two years to develop the plan that will be the roadmap for new parks, trails and recreation facilities over the next decade.

After receiving more than 17,000 comments from approximately 3,000 residents, the plan is available for review at bendparksandrec.org/compplan .

Community members are also invited to attend a presentation at a community meeting on Wednesday, May 30, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the District Office, 799 SW Columbia St. Staff will present information about the comprehensive plan and answer questions from attendees.

“District residents have been a great resource for ideas and knowledge about the community and this input was invaluable as we prepared the comprehensive plan draft,” said Michelle Healy, Planning and Park Services Director. “At this stage, we welcome review of the plan to ensure it reflects the priorities of our community.”

The Board of Directors is expected to consider the completed plan for adoption this summer.
