Christmas magic returns to downtown Bend as community counts down to tree lighting event

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- It’s nearly time for downtown Bend’s biggest holiday tradition, and KTVZ News will be there as the community lights up the season together. The Community Christmas Tree Lighting is set for today, December 7th, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., centered in the heart of downtown.
Kids can visit with Santa, share their wish lists, and snap photos using their own cameras, with candy canes on hand to round out the experience. Local choirs will perform classic holiday songs throughout the event, adding a live soundtrack as the sun sets and the lights come on.
The lighting is expected around 6 p.m. After the tree is lit, visitors are encouraged to stroll downtown to enjoy the full display of twinkle lights and soak in the holiday atmosphere.
Bend Mayor Melanie Kebler is also expected to join the festivities, highlighting the event’s role as a true community gathering.
KTVZ will be live-streaming from downtown during the tree lighting, bringing viewers the countdown, the flip of the switch and the sights and sounds as the lights turn on.
