Two red pandas begin slow introduction at Oregon Zoo

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) Two red pandas at the Oregon Zoo are getting to know each other, but they’re doing it on red panda time.

Enoki and Liu have been sharing space since late June, and caregivers say they’re slowly becoming more comfortable together.

At first, Enoki spent their introduction sleeping in her den. Now, the two are hanging out more, and have even been spotted snoozing in the same maple tree, just a branch or two apart.

Zoo staff hope the pair will eventually hit it off, and potentially help support the endangered red panda population. For now, caregivers say Enoki is in charge, and these two are taking things one nap at a time.
